Han Chil Kim was born and raised in the small town
of Yeonggwang, Korea. He lived there until he finished middle
school. Han Chil¡¯s parents felt that he should see more of the
world around him and gain experience in a place with more opportunities
than their small town. Thus, following his parent¡¯s advice, Han
Chil moved to the city of Kwangju for high school.
He has always had an interest in learning languages. That interest
followed him to Hankuk University of Foreign Studies where he
enrolled in the Russian Department. After studying Russian language,
literature, and history he graduated then gained entry to the
Graduate School of Interpretation and Translation at Hankuk
University of Foreign Studies, which is the most prestigious
graduate program in Korea for translators and interpreters.
By the time he graduated from the program, he had achieved near
native fluency in Russian
Following graduate school, he studied Korean law on his own
for a while. The then enrolled in St. Petersburg University
College of Law where he studied Russian law. He then attended
the People¡¯s Friendship University of Russia. After graduation,
he passed the Russian bar exam and was admitted to the Russian
Bar.
Han Chil then returned to Korea and worked at another law firm
for two years before joining Pusan Pacific Law Office as a foreign
legal consultant.
Han Chil has been teaching at the Graduate School of Interpretation
and Translation at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies as an
adjunct professor. In 2005, he began teaching as an adjunct
professor at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies College
of Law. He also serves as the Northeast Asian advisor to the
Ministry of Government Legislation.
